Coffee Culture in India

India has a booming coffee culture in fact it boosts one of the Worlds best baristas Felix Daniel. Felix Daniel is one of India’s Ace brewmasters he even represented India in the World Barista Championship. The World barista championship features baristas from 54 countries. Last year the winner was American Michael Phillips of Intelligentsia in Chicago.

When Felix participated in the championship he added a little Indian spice to his drinks using cinnamon, tamarind and jaggery. Coffee is grown in Southern India and is famous from Coorg in Karnataka so its only natural it would want to get into the World of gourmet coffee. On a recent visit to India I was impressed with the quality of espresso drinks in the many coffee shops in the big cities. India is a country to watch in future championships
