The majority of caffeine consumed comes from coffee. In some countries, as much as 85% of caffeine consumed comes from coffee. The amount of caffeine in a cup of coffee depends on the type of coffee bean and the preparation method. A cup of drip coffee can have between 115 to 175 mg of caffeine and a single shot of espresso can have 100 mg.
