It seems as if everyone I know either already has a single serve coffee machine like a Keurig or Nespresso or recently got one for Christmas. These are incredibly convenient – brewing a hot, steaming cup of coffee with just the push of a button. They are also simple to use and easy to entertain to impress. Many rant about its irresistible aromatic cup of java.
But do you ever question how fresh the coffee in the small “K-Cups” really is? While the coffee is sealed to keep fresh you don’t really know how long ago the beans were roasted, how long they sat in a warehouse or how long they have been on the store shelf.
Another complaint I hear is the cost of these little pods and being chained to the commercial K-Cups rather than being able to use their own fresh ground gourmet coffee beans such as the ones available at That’s Coffee.
Finally, I cringe at the thought of throwing away each plastic container after brewing a cup of coffee. These can quickly fill up your trash if you are an avid coffee drinker like myself.
At last there is a solution! Reusable single cup filters for Keurig machines. While you have to take the extra step to fill these the effort is well worth it! You have the perfect cup of fresh coffee made from your favorite gourmet coffee beans! You also don’t have to worry about your environment footprint and you can buy fresh gourmet coffee beans in bulk and save money.
I did some online shopping research and found a number of options for an open filter system. Here are a few refillable filter systems I cam across:
Keurig My K-Cup
My K-Cup by Keurig as shown is Keurig’s answer to your frustration: You can buy direct from Keurig, or it’s available in most stores. I found it on Amazon.
A handy refillable filter system with this little unit. I found that it was also available at most online retailers.
MochaMate &Café Cup
The “As Seen on TV” Cafe Cup reusable single serve coffee pod comes with 4 Caf Cups and a bonus scoop. You can fill with your own coffee, tea or cocoa. Best of all it is 100% BPA free and is dishwasher safe!
So there you go my friends. When you’ve found the blend of coffee beans you love, you don’t have to give them up because of the latest coffee maker trends. Get the single serve coffee filter of your choice then sit back and say “Now THAT’S Coffee!”
